social studies course description
The 5th grade Social Studies course is titled, The United States: Making a New Nation. In this course, students will learn about what it was like to live during times when important events in the United States took place. Students will interpret the past, investigate how and why changes take place over time, explain why important events happened, and connect learning to current events. Students will learn about people who took part in historical events, examine different points of view, and develop ideas about how events affected people living in the past. Finally, students will study how geographical features can give information about the land and people who live there. Students will examine the locations where important events took place and how the land can affect why these events happened as they did.
